As I prepare for this Sunday evening's presentation of "Archaeology and the Bible" I am planning to talk a good deal about the Hittites. They are a people group mentioned many times in the Old Testament, yet were considered mythical by archaeologists until the discovery of Hattusa, their capital city, in modern Turkey. From the late 1800s to the early 1900s, many discoveries (including around 10,000 clay tablets) were found proving the Bible's claim of the existence of this people.
Something I find interesting which I plan to share briefly this Sunday evening is the assertion by an Italian biochemist that the Hittites were the inventors of biological warfare. It would seem that they introduced infected livestock into the herds of their enemies before conquering them, thus weakening their adversaries. Check out the attached article. . .
